Monday, January 28, 2019, members of the Pasadena Rose Poets continue to “gift" a poem,” on a monthly basis, during the public comment portion of the Pasadena City Council meetings. The readings were initially established by Gerda Govine Ituarte, founder of the PRP, in February 2017. Pasadena Mayor Terry Tornek stated during one of the Council meetings that he believes the City Council meetings are more civil as a result of the poetry readings. All City Council meetings are videotaped by Pasadena Media.
Thursday, February 21, 2019 at 7:00 pm - The Pasadena Rose Poets honored and celebrated past and present African American poets who have and continue to impact this genre in the US and beyond as part of the "Black History Celebration" at the Central Library, Studio on 4th.
